Lovers like us by Krista and Becca Ritchie

Lovers like us is the second book in the Like Us series. I was more or less mesmerized by the the first installment, and I read Lovers like us the same way as it’s prequel. I devoured it. But, like for most series that you read in a short span of time, you tend to learn the author’s writing style. You discover the repetitiveness or the recurring idiosyncrasies of the author. This was very much the case when I read Lovers like us. Lovers like us is a direct continuation of Damaged like us. Maximoff and Farrow are keeping their relationship secret from the public, but their families and the…

Damaged like us by Krista and Becca Ritchie

Damaged like us is the first book in the Like Us series. The main characters are Maximoff Hale, a member of the super rich, and super famous Hale-Cobalt-Meadows clan, and Farrow Keene, a bodyguard who grew up in the perifery of that clan. Maximoff and Farrow grew up competing about everything, and Maximoff is not happy about being assigned to Farrow when his old bodyguard retires. Also, the fact that Maximoff’s been having naughty fantasies about Farrow since he hit puberty doesn’t help. Being thrust together 24/7, the chemistry between the two is through the roof, but to act upon it would be crossing a line. Not just because Farrow’s…

On Dublin Street by Samantha Young is a great love story. It’s entertainment and steam with a bit of crying and heartache in between. In other words, the perfect pastime. The heroine of the story is Jocelyn, Joss to her friends. An American living in Edinburgh since a few years back, a recent University graduate, and aspiring fiction novelist. Joss answers an ad and ends up sharing an apartment with sweet and bubbly Ellie. And Ellie just so happens to be the sister of Braden Carmichael, sexy as sin real estate mogul with a confidence to match. When Joss and Braden meet, the attraction is instant. But Braden has a…

Seven Shades of You by A. M. Johnson

Seven Shades of You is the second installment in the Twin Hearts series. The first one, Let there be light, simply blew me away, and I expected nothing less of Seven Shades of You. I was not disappointed. Seven Shades is the love story of Indie and Kai. They’re both College students and couldn’t be more dissimilar at a first glance. Indie is an art-student. She’s bipolar with psychotic tendencies and uses her art as an outlet and a countermeasure. She sees the world in different colours than most, and fights a constant battle against her inner demons. Kai on the other hand is one of the best on the…

    Try by Ella Frank

Try by Ella Frank is … well, gay porn. I’t’s masquerading as a love story though, so it’s kind of great that way. Anyway, this is not a book where the plot is what matters. However, it could have been. It’s about the sizzling, instant attraction between the bisexual Logan and the, up until now, straight Tate. Tate, trying to get back on his feet after a messy marriage finds himself inexplicably distracted by the handsome, cocky as hell, lawyer Logan who frequents the bar where Tate just started working as a bartender. And Logan seems to have set his eyes on Tate. The plot development could have been awesome.…

The (Secret) Baby by Leddy Harper

This story that will be available July 9th is the perfect beach companion. It’s a sweet and entertaining romance read with a little bit of conflict, misunderstanding and an unexpected pregnancy before the HEA ending. It’s a story about Kelsey who has lost all faith in men, and Aaron who has almost given up on ever meeting the right woman. Chasing Chance and Catching Chance by M. E. Parker

Chasing Chance and Catching Chance are the first two books in a new series called Gilcrest University Guys. Yeah, I appear to be in an M/M-phase right now. So, sue me. They’re about Andy and Chance, two childhood friends, and their circuitous way to love. Andy is smart, nerdy and a brilliant baker. He’s also openly gay. Chance is the star quarterback, son of a pastor and Andy’s former best friend. The two were inseparable from when they were kids, until the last summer of high school when Chance panics after giving in to their mutual attraction. Several years later, in College, they reconnect and it’s downright sizzling. However, Chance…

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

Red, White and Royal Blue is the best book I’ve read this year. No contest. I wasn’t at all convinced by the blurb though. I mean, a clandestine love affair between the son of the American president and a prince of England? Really? But oh, how wrong I was. Red, white and Royal Blue is epic. I’ve never encountered quite this romance-wit-and-parallel universe-combination before. Hopefully McQuiston has started a brand new genre. The story is set in a United states that has elected it’s first female president. The hero of the story is Alex Claremont-Diaz, the president’s son. He’s slightly neurotic, utterly outrageous, very perceptive and has the biggest of…

A Very French Affair by Sue Roberts

This is a story about rekindling an old flame, about second chances and how life doesn’t always go to plan but still may end up pretty darn good. It’s about Olivia (Liv), almost 40, a single mother with a thriving cake-baking business. When her 20-year old son starts asking questions about his father, Liv decides to track him down. But she doesn’t really have much to go on. She’d met André when she was only eighteen, during a summer vacation in France. She had thought he was the love of her life, but instead circumstances led to her raising their son on her own. The story is mostly set on…
