Phoenix by Cole Denton
Phoenix, the third book in the Trial by Fire series, is dark AF. Just wanted to make that clear right from the start. This series isn’t dark in the sense that there is a seriously fucked up relationsship between the two main characters – which is often the case for dark reads. It’s dark due to the sheer amount and level of sexual abuse described. That being said, it’s an incredibly intriguing story. And in all honesty, Phoenix is probably the book in the series with the least amount of horrid descriptions of abuse, and when comparing with the first two, it’s definitely the most easy-going and hopeful. It’s also…

The Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S. Pacat
This trilogy, starting with Captive Prince followed by Prince’s Gambit and Kings Rising, are nothing but amazing. I’d like to call them classics despite them being released only a few years ago. Technically, they might not be. But just you wait a few years… The three books tells a story of two princes – mortal enemies – and their epic journey through war and intrigue, past enmity to friendship and more. It’s set in a fictional past and the two rival nations Vere and Akielos. It very much reminds of ancient Greece and has a distinct Mediterranean vibe throughout the books. Damianos – Damen – is the prince of Akielos.…

Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey
Getaway Girl is not a new release by any means, but I just haven’t been in the mood for it until now. It’s been sitting in my Kindle just waiting. And now that I’ve read it, I don’t understand why I didn’t read it earlier. Because it’s spectacular. It’s the very best of the smutty romance genre, and it’s something as unusual as a read that literally has you enthralled by the very first pages. Getaway girl is the story of Addison Potts. Returning to Charleston after years away, she intends to crash her cousin’s nuptials. Only her cousin does a runner and Addison ends up offering the jilted groom…

Sinful Like Us by Krista & Becca Ritchie
I adore the Like Us-series. There is no other word for it really. And Sinful Like Us, the fifth installment in the series is just as awesome as the first four. Sinful Like Us is the continuation of Jane Cobolt’s and Thatcher Morretti’s love story that started in Tangled Like Us. Jane, the ultimate American princess, and Thatcher, her ex-bodyguard and now boyfriend. Now as their relationship’s gone public, they’re not only facing the scrutiny of the press, but the much more daunting challenge of having their love accepted by the Cobolt clan. Meanwhile, Thatcher is trying to juggle his two roles as both partner and employee. And Jane struggles…

Just Be You by M. E. Parker
Right. I hadn’t meant to write this review. Or rather, I hadn’t really planned on reading Just Be You by M.E. Parker, not just yet anyway. I have a lot of other books way higher up on my to-read list. However, I had such a craving for some Parker writing I couldn’t stop myself. In truth I was holding out for her next release in the Gilcrest Guys series, Resisting Rein, but that release appears to have been postponed. Just Be You is a lovely romance. It’s about Scott Cohen, musical genius, Grammy nominee and gay. And about his brother’s best – and also straight – friend, Marshall, who Scott’s…

Far Cry by Kate Canterbary
Far Cry is the newest release from Kate Canterbary and the third book in her Talbot’s Cove series. And it’s amazing. I might be overly emotional from PMS, but either way, Far Cry gave me all the feels. I laughed, I cried and I hurt with the leading characters. Canterbary delivers as always. In this story, you get to follow the awesome and altogether kick-ass Brooke-Ashley Markham. Beautiful, wicked smart, outspoken and more or less a force of nature. But she’s also exhausted. Exhausted from taking care of her aging father suffering from dementia. From keeping up the appearance of perfection. From trying to handle everything life throws at her…
