The Offering (Wolves of Wereduin #1) by Rosary Deville

Right. So. I might have a bit of a soft spot for MM shifter reads. Or, more correctly, they’re a guilty pleasure of mine. And then I saw The Offering recommended. I read the blurb, I read the warnings, and I still bought it. Maybe I shouldn’t have. Anyway. The story takes place in a universe where completely different rules and morals than our own apply. It’s truly the world of the strong. The weak are used, enslaved, or even outright killed. It’s also a world where, among the wolves, you’re either born to be a dominant or a submissive. Pretty crappy odds for the submissives in other words. In…

Shiloh’s Secret (Out in Austin #2) by K.D. Ellis

Release Date: November 16th I was surprised and delighted by this story. I was expecting something clichĂ© and juicy – which is both what I got and what I wanted – but I wasn’t expecting the high quality writing or the well developed storyline. So, win! Synopsis: Shiloh is the spoiled, wild-child of a corporate big-wig that Gage Tucker – retired army vet and personal security officer – is assigned to protect against a stalker. Only, the Shiloh that Gage gets to know isn’t at all how the tabloids portray him. There’s a depth to him that isn’t instantly obvious what with his pink hair and makeup. And as Shiloh’s…

Conquest (The Four Horsemen #1) by Sienna Moreau

I was sucked into this read immediately. The storyline felt fresh and interesting and the characters were compelling. Also, it’s been a while since I’ve read about angels and demons. And just maybe that could also explain my instant infatuation. So. Conquest, the bad boy in this romance, is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. And he is bad for real. As in, killing people, blood, gore and intestines bad. But, this is the weird part, I still rooted for him from the start. Raziel is an angel. Super sweet and kind. But he’s broken, with no power and no wings. Until he’s given a special mission on…

Ethan & Jag Destroy the World by Maz Maddox

Release Date: October 26th This book was a delight. Quirky, amusing and sweet all-around. Apart from all the references to blood, guts and gore that is, but that’s what you get when one of the MCs is a demon. The book is a two-parter, where the first part – Demon All the Way – was previously published, and the second part – Ethan and Jag Destroy the World – is an expansion and continuation of the first story. To me, both parts were brand new, though, and story-wise they melded together perfectly. If Maddox hadn’t explained the division in the preface I wouldn’t have noticed. As all of Maddox’s earlier…

Soul Eater (Monstrous #1) by Lily Mayne

I thought this was a very original story, portraying a post-apocalyptic world in a fascinating new way. I enjoyed reading it and I’d recommend it to others. But there were also a few things, mostly about the story structure and plot, that just didn’t make sense to me. So, I’m a bit conflicted. However, there’s no denying it’s an intriguing world Mayne has created. The story takes place in the US, twenty years after “monsters” spilled into the world through a rift between our world and another plane/dimension. People seek shelter in crowded towns along the the coast, and the rest of the country becomes the Waste – the depopulated…

Chrysalis (The Formicary #1) by S.E. Harmon

Release date: September 1st This was an unexpected story. Maybe because this is a bit of a genre change for Harmon. It’s still MM, sure. But the romance is not center stage here. Instead, this is more of a suspense bordering on Sci-Fi. And it’s also a cliff-hanger. Sort of. Anyway, the story sucked me in right from the start. The MC wakes up in a hospital, having been shot in the head, and with no memory of what happened. Christian – Chris – has amnesia. There’s his doctor (boy)friend, Grayson, who appears to be keeping something from him. Chris doesn’t know who wants him dead. But he knows he can’t rely on anybody else to…

Dragon Ever After (Here Be Dragons #1) by Louisa Masters

This read was a pure and utter delight! Just the funny, quirky and ridiculous story I needed. So, yes, I loved it. Technically, this is a new series – even though I believe there’s only one more book planned. But this is a spin-off from the Hidden Species series, and the only thing that really distinguishes it from that series is that the overall story arc was concluded with Sorcerers Always Satisfy. Therefore, I wouldn’t call Dragon Ever After a stand-alone. You won’t be able to appreciate the supporting characters, or the world building, unless you’ve read Hidden Species first. Synopsis: Percy, the retired leader of the Community of Species…

Ellis Harper’s Shot in the Dark by K. Sterling

I loved this story. I devoured it in only two sittings because the plot was just too delicious for words. Synopsis: Ellis is a closeted guy who hooks up – anonymously and in the dark – with a guy during a wedding he’s invited to as his friend’s date. His best friend, Alli, who’s newly pregnant and might have blurted out that Ellis was the father of her child. To say things spiral from there is an understatement. Ellis can’t forget about the hot mystery man, and they decide to continue seeing each other even after the wedding weekend is over. But meeting in the dark and keeping their identities…

Undone (Vino & Veritas #18) by Leslie McAdam

Release Date: August 12th This book had all the potential. First-time gay, Gay-For-You, Bi/Gay awakening. Whatever you want to call it, it’s without a doubt, my favourite MM trope. No contest. And the story being part of Sarina Bowen’s True North universe? I was prepared for epic-ness. Synopsis: Gay boy (Murph) running from past mistakes and trying to start over in a new town meets straight (?), suit-wearing insurance salesman (Jason) and they immediately click. But only as roommates, right?  The story started out perfectly with the sparkly and unapologetically out Murph moving in with the buttoned-up, and very straight, Jason. Only, the very first time Jason – who’s most…

    Dark Summer by S.J. Coles

Release Date: July 27th This is the sequel to Blood Winter – which I thought was rather amazing in a dark and despondent sort of way. Dark Summer has that same almost dystopian feel and it’s all because of Alec’s mood. He’s the sole narrator of the story and thus sets the tone for the entire book. He’s as anti-social as they come and broody as all get out. Borderline depressive actually. Synopsis: The story pretty much starts where Blood Winter ended. Terje has returned and they’re now trying to start a life together. In secret since no one can know that Terje is still alive. Alec’s and Terje’s differences…
