Evil Omega by S. Rodman
Release Date: January 14th I loved the premise of this story! An evil, badass Omega as opposed to the usual kind and submissive ones. Awesome! And in many ways, the read did deliver. So, Silas Northstar is a shifter and a necromancer. Outcast, despised, and feared. He also has a propensity for getting captured and that’s how the story begins. With Silas having been captured by the Westlake Pack, and Dean β a pack alpha β literally dragging Silas off of the pack head Alpha. It’s a strong start to the story, and gets even more interesting when Silas’ heat starts when he’s in Dean’s custody. The dynamic between Silas…

The Offering (Wolves of Wereduin #1) by Rosary Deville
Right. So. I might have a bit of a soft spot for MM shifter reads. Or, more correctly, they’re a guilty pleasure of mine. And then I saw The Offering recommended. I read the blurb, I read the warnings, and I still bought it. Maybe I shouldn’t have. Anyway. The story takes place in a universe where completely different rules and morals than our own apply. It’s truly the world of the strong. The weak are used, enslaved, or even outright killed. It’s also a world where, among the wolves, you’re either born to be a dominant or a submissive. Pretty crappy odds for the submissives in other words. In…

Conquest (The Four Horsemen #1) by Sienna Moreau
I was sucked into this read immediately. The storyline felt fresh and interesting and the characters were compelling. Also, it’s been a while since I’ve read about angels and demons. And just maybe that could also explain my instant infatuation. So. Conquest, the bad boy in this romance, is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. And he is bad for real. As in, killing people, blood, gore and intestines bad. But, this is the weird part, I still rooted for him from the start. Raziel is an angel. Super sweet and kind. But he’s broken, with no power and no wings. Until he’s given a special mission on…

Ethan & Jag Destroy the World by Maz Maddox
Release Date: October 26th This book was a delight. Quirky, amusing and sweet all-around. Apart from all the references to blood, guts and gore that is, but that’s what you get when one of the MCs is a demon. The book is a two-parter, where the first part β Demon All the Way – was previously published, and the second part β Ethan and Jag Destroy the World β is an expansion and continuation of the first story. To me, both parts were brand new, though, and story-wise they melded together perfectly. If Maddox hadn’t explained the division in the preface I wouldn’t have noticed. As all of Maddox’s earlier…

Soul Eater (Monstrous #1) by Lily Mayne
I thought this was a very original story, portraying a post-apocalyptic world in a fascinating new way. I enjoyed reading it and I’d recommend it to others. But there were also a few things, mostly about the story structure and plot, that just didn’t make sense to me. So, I’m a bit conflicted. However, there’s no denying it’s an intriguing world Mayne has created. The story takes place in the US, twenty years after βmonstersβ spilled into the world through a rift between our world and another plane/dimension. People seek shelter in crowded towns along the the coast, and the rest of the country becomes the Waste β the depopulated…

Dragon Ever After (Here Be Dragons #1) by Louisa Masters
This read was a pure and utter delight! Just the funny, quirky and ridiculous story I needed. So, yes, I loved it. Technically, this is a new series β even though I believe there’s only one more book planned. But this is a spin-off from the Hidden Species series, and the only thing that really distinguishes it from that series is that the overall story arc was concluded with Sorcerers Always Satisfy. Therefore, I wouldn’t call Dragon Ever After a stand-alone. You won’t be able to appreciate the supporting characters, or the world building, unless you’ve read Hidden Species first. Synopsis: Percy, the retired leader of the Community of Species…

Dark Summer by S.J. Coles
Release Date: July 27th This is the sequel to Blood Winter β which I thought was rather amazing in a dark and despondent sort of way. Dark Summer has that same almost dystopian feel and it’s all because of Alec’s mood. He’s the sole narrator of the story and thus sets the tone for the entire book. He’s as anti-social as they come and broody as all get out. Borderline depressive actually. Synopsis: The story pretty much starts where Blood Winter ended. Terje has returned and they’re now trying to start a life together. In secret since no one can know that Terje is still alive. Alec’s and Terje’s differences…

Wandering a Luminous Sea by Kayleigh Sky
Release date: July 13th Merik, a merman who’s trying to solve a case with missing mer people, falls for the ex of the guy he suspects being behind all the disappearances. But when he’s started their relationship on a lie, can it ever become the real thing? But instead of coming clean to Jody, Merik’s choice is taken from him when some of the ex’s goons forces Merik back to the sea. How can Jody and Merik ever be together if Merik doesn’t have his legs?Β Confession: I’m not particularly fond of mermen. I adore shifter books, but my taste is apparently quite conservative when it comes to what shapeshifting…

Blood Winter by S.J. Coles
This is not your average vampire read. In a very good way. I’d say it’s quite unique, with vampires being way more alien and predatory, ruled by their instincts to feed and survive. They’re not savages, but this depiction certainly adds more complexity to the story. Synopsis: Vampires, or heamophiles as they’re called here, have revealed themselves to the human public and tries to integrate into society. The main character, Alec, is somewhat of a recluse, staying away from social events and people in general. And he certainly never expected to attend a blood party where haemophile blood β the most exclusive drug available – is offered as the ultimate…

Not Dead Yet (Not Dead Yet #1) by Jenn Burke
This story has so much going for it. A living ghost. Witches. Supernatural beings. A murder mystery. And the most delicious thing of all, the ex lovers who are forced together by some shitty circumstances and who may or may not reignite their old spark. So of course I devoured this book. Synopsis: Wes is a Retrieval Specialist (read thief) who uses his special ability to turn ghost as a means to excel at his job. When he witnesses a murder during a break-in, he reaches out to his ex-boyfriend, Detective Hudson Rojas. Hudson is still hot AF, but any thoughts Wes might have had about maybe rekindling the old…
