Sweetheart (Busy Bean #1) by Sarah Mayberry

Release Date: March 1 This is a wonderful little story and a cute, low-angst romance. However, there’s a trigger that I was unaware of before starting, namely mental illness in a family member. And I can’t honestly say I would have read this book had I known that in advance. The romance-part in itself is low-angst and super sweet. But I can say with certainty that this story will not be perceived as such by those who have personal experience of a loved one with a mental disorder. Synopsis: This is the story of Haley, newly hired barista at the Busy Bean, and Beck, the hot lumberjack who roasts the…

Primal Sin (Primal Sin #1) by Ariana Nash

This story really sucked me in. I was immediately intrigued by the world, the post-apocalyptic feel of an alternative London. The angels, the demons, and everything in between. Captivating is an understatement. Synopsis: This is truly the ultimate enemies-to-lovers narrative. An angel and a demon. Mikhail, the Guardian Angel of London and Severn, a demon lord gone undercover as an angel in his quest for revenge. It’s a wild ride without a doubt. Severn is determined to avenge his dead lover, and to kill the angel that cut off Severn’s wings and left him mutilated and earth-bound. But the closer Severn gets to his enemy, the more conflicted are his…

P.S. I Spook You (The Spectral Files #1) by S.E. Harmon

This is a great story with some really unfortunate mistakes that should have been caught by a proof-reader. So I’m conflicted as hell about how to rate this one. I’ve read several of Harmon’s books and she’s the author of one of my all-time, favourite stories, the Rules of Possession duet; The Blueprint and A Deeper Blue. And no matter the storyline, her writing has always been top-notch. And yes, P.S. I Spook You is also high quality. It has a skillfully constructed story structure, the overall writing is great, the premise of the story is awesome and the plot development is too. But it’s also a suspense/detective story where…

Cry Wolf (Big Bad Wolf #5) by Charlie Adhara

Right now, I’m feeling sort of numb and a bit lost. Book hangover doesn’t begin to describe how I’m feeling. It’ll probably be a year until the next installment in this series is released and I won’t know what to do with myself in the meantime. So yeah. This was a spectacular story. And right now, when I’m in the process of returning to reality, Cry Wolf feels like the best in the series yet. With some time and a bit of distance I might re-assess, but considering I re-read the first four books in preparation for the Cry Wolf release, it’s not likely. Synopsis: Cooper and Park are supposed…

Grumpy Bear (Bear Camp #1) by Slade James

Release Date: January 28th This is an honest to God gem! I can’t remember the last time I was so pleasantly surprised by a book. Not only is Grumpy Bear a super sweet story that gave me all the warm fuzzies, but it’s also extremely well written. And the detail and authentic feel of the story setting was damn impressive. This is an M/M, sunshine-grump, hurt-comfort, hairy Bear kind of romance. And yes, it is a romance even if the title and blurb might imply something smuttier … such as orgies in the woods. Synopsis: Coleman Sawyer is the epitome of a grumpy Bear. He’s also the owner of a…

    Soulmates by Liv Rancourt

Release date: January 14th This story was definitely a grower. It took a while, but the more I read, the more intrigued and delighted I became. Also, it’s probably the most believably organic formation of a threesome I’ve ever encountered. Kudos to Rancourt! Synopsis: Trajan is a 175 year old vampire on the verge of committing suicide by sun due to grief over his dead lover Connor. But when he is tasked by his sire to keep a young alpha werewolf safe for a week, he’s instantly distracted from his dark thoughts. Not only is David an outrageous and unapologetic twink just looking for some fun, but almost as soon…

Heat for Sale by Blake Moreno (a.k.a. Leta Blake)

Wowza! This was a super steamy, omegaverse story with all that juicy goodness A/B/O reads usually contains; heats (obviously), knotting, mpreg, insatiable lust, and some interesting hormonal aspects of alpha and omega biology. Dominant alphas and submissive omegas are HOT. M/M erotica at its best. Just awesome. Synopsis: Adrien is an omega about to start his first heat, and without a family to help or the finances to manage on his own, he does what most other omegas do – he offers up his virgin heat in an online auction. Heath is an older, wealthy alpha who lost the love of his life many years ago. But when he discovers…

    Roommate by Sarina Bowen

Release date: January 12th Oh my lordt I loved this book so much! It’s heartbreaking and beautiful. And there’s such a homey, incredibly friendly, inclusive and cozy feeling to this whole story I just want to move to Vermont right now! I cried, and cried some more, and then I got all warm and fuzzy and even though this is in fact NOT a True North book – it’s a standalone dammit – it’s now my favourite of all Bowen’s books taking place in the True North universe. I’m still on a reading-high (and also slightly red-eyed from happy-crying in the end) and I just can’t recommend this book enough!…

Change of Course (Change of Hearts #3) by Sierra Hill

Release date: January 13th This read was hot! Lots of sexual tension and sizzle, and lots of NSFW shenanigans. It’s an M/M, professor-student, slight age-gap (it’s actually only a 7 year gap, but it appears bigger due to the guys’ different circumstances) romance with just a tiny bit of daddy-kink thrown in. And it was simply delicious. I usually cringe from reading the word daddy in a sexual context, but somehow it really worked here. Synopsis: Kyler is an art-student. Super talented, estranged from his family, and trying to make ends meet by tending bar and dancing at a gay club. He’s also been burned and don’t want to ever…
