Bell, Book and Scandal (Bedknobs and Broomsticks #3) by Josh Lanyon
I love, love, love this series! As soon as the pre-ordered e-book appeared on my Kindle, I immediately gave up what I was doing and dove into this entirely wonderful, witchy world. It’s delightful and quirky in the best way possible. Cosmo and John have that infuriating dynamic going that is so addictive. At least the way Lanyon portrays it. I honestly don’t understand why I find it so fascinating really, but I do. The story is exclusively told from Cosmo’s point of view, while John is the one that holds most of the power in their relationship. This imbalance between them was there from the first book, but the…

The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks by Josh Lanyon
This is my first Josh Lanyon book I didn’t like, and didn’t finish. The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks is an old school murder mystery, but with the twist of two gay apartment neighbours acting as detectives. And it just didn’t work for me. It was just too much like a game of Clue. A bunch of weird characters, isolated in a spooky old house when people start dropping dead. It had a definite Professor Plum in the kitchen with the candlestick kind of vibe. Which felt, well, dated. It’s not something I’m interested in reading at least. There’s nothing wrong with the writing of course, it’s excellent, this story just…

Mainly by Moonlight (Bedknobs and Broomsticks #1) by Josh Lanyon
So, I’m on somewhat of a Josh Lanyon trip right now. Like in the sense that I’ve been bingeing her work, series by series. Because her stories are frankly addicting and I just adore them. What’s weird is that I’m never really enticed by the blurbs to her books, but I’ve learned by now that that doesn’t matter. Because so far I’ve loved everything I’ve read. Anyway. Mainly by Moonlight. Cosmo Saville is a witch. He’s also about to get married to a non witch who’s completely unaware of the existence of magic. But when Cosmo happens to stumble upon a dead body, he becomes the prime suspect of murder.…

The Art of Murder series by Josh Lanyon
So, I might have become slightly obsessed with Josh Lanyon’s mystery/suspense novels… I’ve been listening my way through the four installments of her The Art of Murder series and since the fifth one won’t be released until next year, I’ve continued on with The Adrien English Mysteries series. To say that I’m completely captivated is an understatement. The Art of Murder books are – so far – The Mermaid Murders, The Monet Murders, The Magician Murders and The Monuments Men Murders. The main character is Jason West, a Special Agent at the Arts Crime Team of the FBI. And despite the arts-y focus of his work, Jason keeps stumbling into…

The All’s Fair series by Josh Lanyon
So here’s a quick recommendation for a great series I’ve just binge listened my way through the last couple of days. It’s the All’s Fair series, by Josh Lanyon, that had me totally hooked. It’s a three installment series; Fair Game, Fair Play and Fair Chance. Despite the uninspired and generic titles, they’re actually awesome stories. The series main character is the former FBI agent Elliot Mills. After a crippling injury, he left the bureau and is now working as a College history professor. In Fair Game, Elliot agrees to look into the disappearance of the son of a family friend. This forces him back in contact with agent Tucker Lance,…
